Chapter18- Four years later pip goes to a bar with Joe and a strange man comes along and says that he has a massage to tell them. His message was that pip could come into fortune and become a gentleman but the downside was he would have to be taken away from Joe. Joe gets angry because the man keeps offering her money to give to pip but Joe loves pip so much that she wont accept the money from him.

Chapter19- In this chapter pip feels alone and him leaving to go to London. Pip talks to biddy about helping Joe out, making him smarter and improving his manners. Biddy is upset because pip is saying that Joe is proud and happy the way he is.The next day pip goes to town to get some new clothes to wear for when he leaves to go to London Pip then goes to Mr Pumblechooks. Mr Pumblechook acts nicer to pip asking him to shake his hand and giving him better quality foods.

Chapter20- Mr Jaggers takes a very long journey to London with Pip. The driver was afraid of Pip and it confused him so it means he doesn’t have to give him a tip. Pip thinks that London is overrated, smelly and everything is dirty with a very unpleasant smell. Lots of people waited outside Mr Jaggers office. Pip meets Mr Jaggers assistant Wemmick who seems to be very distrustful.
